One Sick Puppy (Ger, Maddie, Open)

((Though this is starting off in the barracks, the bulk of it is supposed to take place in the infirmary, so here's where I'm putting this thread. Feel free to move it around if anybody disagrees.))

<"Come on, my little dear, why don't you eat just a bite? No? Please, just one bite, please..."> the dark skinned Heavy pleaded in her native tongue. Saidah, the hyena she was speaking to, remained curled up on Tihun's bed, steadfastly ignoring the fistful of spam cooked into bacon-like slices that was being offered to her. "Just a taste, come on, I know you like this," she tried again, this time in English. Nothing was working. It was true that her more playful pet had been quite a bit less active lately, but this new development was downright frightening. Neither of her babies had ever outright refused to eat, before.

Ruth, who was sitting on the floor and watching, let out a soft whine and put a paw on Tihun's leg. The Ethiopian woman sighed, and reached her other hand down to scratch the larger hyena's cheek. "Yes, Ruth... Your sister is very sick. It... It will be okay." It felt like a lie, even if she couldn't be completely certain. She had no idea what to do, and the feeling of helplessness was infuriating. Before, she had always, always been able to care for her babies, no matter how sick (or, in a few instances, injured) they had been. Now, she was afraid that she might lose one, at such a young age.

Some people might call it doctor's instinct, others simple good luck.
Gerhard called it being observant and noticing his favorite furry buddy hadn't visited him in a good few days.

Tihun would hear a soft knock, a quiet warning before the door to the female barracks was opened and the BLU's only Medic poked his head into the room, his pale features drawn with concern that only grew upon seeing the young woman crouched next to her bed.
"Excuse me... Is somezhing wrong...?"
A poor question, considering the scene, but it was polite to ask and he did not want to assume anything. For all he knew, the dark skinned Heavy already knew what she was doing and would staunchly refuse any attempts to help.

"Wha's goin' on in here? Party or somet'in'?"

In a surprisingly stealthy maneuver, Madison had emerged from the nearby bathroom, fresh from the shower. She was still wearing nothing but a towel and soaking wet, the water dripping from the ends of her long red hair creating a trail behind her. She stood unabashedly behind the curious doctor, peering over the top of his head into the room.

Well, she was no professional, but she could tell from the doorway that the hyena lying on the ground (she wasn't sure which one it was) wasn't in very good shape. "Uh oh, Tihun. Your girl sick?"

((Just assuming Tihun knows what Ger is because I'm pretty sure that's what we decided on. If not I can edit.))

Tihun glanced up at the knock, but narrowed her eyes once she saw who it was. "This is not your problem, demon," she said, in a flat voice. She couldn't find it in her to say any more than that, not one insult or demand to leave, and instead just turned back to Saidah. Ruth didn't move, either, though she did turn to look at the doctor in the doorway. The larger hyena's gaze stayed even as the other Heavy appeared behind him.

Maddie's question first caused the Ethiopian woman to sigh, visibly sagging in the process. "Yes..." she answered, after a moment or two. Not bothering to turn back around and actually face the people she was talking to, Tihun continued with, "Saidah has not been herself for days, now, and today... Today, she will not eat."

((Works for me))

Gerhard winced at the insult, but refrained from commenting.
Though it hurt to have such prejudice all but jabbing him in the face, he knew that others dealt with much worse and instead focused on the situation at hand. He sidled over to one side to let Maddie into the room, flushing some when he realized she was clad only in a towel before forcing his attention on the sickly hyena.
"Von't eat? Have you been able to get her to drink?"

this is my fault for not replying for so long

[[im sorry for being a lazy piece of shit]]

"Don't call 'im dat!" Maddy forced the door fully open, throwing a slightly damp arm around Gerhard's shoulders and half hugging him, half dragging him into the room. She could see that the insult had hurt. "His name's Gerhard, an' he's my frien'. But wha's mos' important..."

She straightened herself up to her full height, readjusting her towel. "He's a goddamn vet, Tihun. I don't know not'in' 'bout treatin' sick animals, 'specially not hyenas. If you want your girl t' get better y'all best let him do his work. He can help her. Right?" She turned to the doctor, giving him an expectant look.

Tihun didn't say anything after Maddie's small outburst. There wasn't anything she could say that would sway the other Heavy, just as there was nothing that could be said to change her own mind. At that moment, it didn't even seem important. Instead, she answered Gerhard's question. "Not since last night..."

A demon who could heal... It still seemed like such a backwards concept, but if he specialized in animals, it made a little more sense. Would he be able to help her? He came to check on them, so- Wait. He actually came to check on them. Ruth whined and leaned against Tihun's side. Saidah continued to ignore everyone and everything.

Tihun stayed quiet, waiting on Gerhard's answer.

The Medic's frown tightened at the news, and he pushed aside his personal issues regarding Madison's current level of dress in favor of focusing upon the welfare of his patient, sidling into the room with the near-eerie silence gifted to him by his unique lower half. He came up next to the bed, his expression stern as he knelt down on the other side of the bed.
Looking up to Tihun, he waited a moment to allow her to protest before leaning down to start examining the sickened hyena.
He was quick and efficient, his gloved hands moving with practiced care as he gently felt over the pseudo-canine's belly and throat, checking for any swelling or heat before gently leaning the hyena's head to the side so he could look into her mouth.
"She hasn't been eatingk, und she hasn't been drinking. Have you noticed anyzhing else off? Problems swallowing? Coughing? She seems to be breazhing alright, so zhere ist zhat... Any ozzer changes in behavior recently?"
