Adventure!

The first floor of RED base is where all the action happens, from sparring to medical mishaps to general cooking hi-jinks, this is where it happens.

Adventure!

Postby Henry Adams » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:23 pm

This place... It smells of frog-lizard and grumpy dolphin... Padding through the halls, a very confused dog wandered through this odd environment. It was like home, only not. Mirrored in the strangest ways. Both different and the same in all the wrong fashions. Grey decided he liked it here. There was a wave of new scents mingling in the air, between frog-lizard, mask-man sweat, stretchy-skin from the smoke people, and an instinctually familiar scent of Nordic Male. It was just too much to take in. He couldn't track any one scent right away, and instead roved the halls, using memory of his own home to locate the kitchen, quickly tearing into a bag of hard-tack biscuits.

This hot-wheat is chewy... Leaving behind a half-eaten biscuit, he went to find the slimy-medics, and see what had taken their place in this strange world.

Something was different.
It took the chimera a second to figure that something was up, distracted by the stuttering signal of the television as Connal messed with the antenna for the umpteenth time, but a twitching ear and a deep inhale had the patchworked hybrid excusing himself from the common room to seek out the semi-familiar scent tickling his memory and nose.
Snuffling across the room, Jericho made his way down the stairs in his usual sideways manner, heavy tail thumping along behind him, though he winced slightly as the motions pulled on the scar tissue that had developed from the wound caused by the swamp monster. It would heal, with time, but it still ached...

He caught a glimpse of motion, and popped up from under a table, ears pricked as forward as they could go before he set off to find out what that movement was.

Grey plodded down the hall, swinging his tail about with n real goal in mind. Wait...WAIT. DOG-MAN-THING. THERESADOGMANTHING. He swung around and zeroed in on the creeping chimera, and immediately set to bounding back down the hall, using his spring-like state of motion to launch into the air, tackling the poor man at full speed and rolling into prime chase position. YOU. ITSA YOU. WHATCHYEW DOIN' IN NOT-HOME??

Jericho had a half-second to recognize that fluffy black-white-grey form, and then he was being tackled.
He yelped as he was slammed backwards, the Malamute's weight very nearly equivalent to his own in sheer muscle, and it was sheer luck that keep him from crashing onto his wings and hurting himself. Despite this, he couldn't bring himself to be irritated, and found himself smiling as he barked to the large dog.
He remembered this animal, the friendly canine who'd been with the BLU's Engineer at that party some time ago.
Sure, it wasn't a hybrid like he'd hoped at the time, but that was okay. The dog was quite nice enough.
"Dog! What're you doing here? You're a BLU!"

Grey-dog. Grey-dog smelled a tooth-lizard. Went to see. Smelled frog-lizard, then found DOG-MAN! DOGMANDOGMAN! He couldn't contain all of the happy, and started bouncing up and down, like a muscle car with overactive hydraulics. While doing this little hop-scotch game, he managed to spin himself in circles, and gave the chimera another friendly side-tackle, hoping to roll him over so he could nip at his belly.

Jericho couldn't it help it, the dog was just so happy-!
Chuckling, the chimera shoved back, grinning as his tail tip started wagging. It was hard not to be in a good mood with such a friendly animal trying so hard to just play, and he couldn't bring himself to refuse a bit of fun when it was so readily offered.
A hand came up, batting at the dog's ears in a teasing manner as he got himself braced a bit better.
Fun as it was, his wings were awfully delicate, and he didn't want to risk getting them damaged in the midst of play. That would just kill the fun.

AKJSDHBVSKJH EAR. The brief contact was enough to send him spinning, flailing around the room like a mad-man. He threw himself down onto his front paws, tail in the air, and kept a steady eye on his buddy, waiting for him to make a move. You move I move! Drowning in happy, his master's favorite play-phrase popped into his head, and he had to repeat it, word for word. I take you down, dog! Show me whatchyew got!

Suddenly he lunged, but tripped over his own massive paws, somersalting into a pile on the floor. He gave a brief growl and a woof as he lost track of where the floor was, then rolled sideways and threw a paw over Jericho's back. WRESTLEWRESTLEWRESTLE

Narrowly avoiding the rolling-dog-hazard, Jericho wasn't able to move quick enough to dodge the big paw being tossed over his back.
Right on top of a wing.
There was a faint crunch, and the chimera went from playful and happy to crying out in pain, lurching away from the Malamute and skittering into a wall headfirst. Thank God his horns had long since healed, else that would have been a pain on top of a pain.
Goddamnit, why did he have to have such useless, fragile things on his back-!

NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

This was not good. Man-dog down! Instinct told him everything he needed to know, now. Whether from bee stings, bear claws, or any other injury, there was only one sure-fire cure, and so he padded over, layed himself over the chimera to get to his wings, held them gingerly between his paws, and began licking and nipping wherever they seemed to be injured, which at the moment, looked to be everywhere.

Don't move don't move. I'mma get the hurt. I made it, so i'mma get it for you.

Jericho yelped as he was near-crushed under the dog, and shivered as his hurt wing was 'tended', unable to keep himself from whining as his ears pinned back. He understood that the dog was trying to help, it just HURT-!
Forcing himself to take a breath, the chimera attempted to sit up, his heavy tail curled tightly around his rear paws as he struggled to get his voice working.

Niklas had been in the middle of a particularly good dream when the call for medic woke him from his sleep. He had spent his entire time at Swamp Rat sleeping in one of the cots of the infirmary, and from what he could gather it wasn't too far away. Groaning, he rubbed his eyes and checked the digital clock. He hadn't been asleep for that long. Fumbling for his glasses, he rolled out of bed and flipped the various light switches, squinting as his eyes adjusted to the light.

Wandering out in nothing but a pair of boxers and a white t-shirt, his sandy hair a mess, he followed the sound until he came upon an unhappy looking Jericho and a familiar looking dog. "Is that... is that Henry's dog?" He approached closer, suddenly much less groggy than before. "What happened here?"

And suddenly, medic. he wasn't sure how he knew this. Boxer shorts and a t-shirt was unlike any uniform he had ever seen, and he was certainly built like a soldier, but his scent said healing, and Grey was going to take what he could get. Whining like a leaky boiler, he flopped off of his buddy and did his best imitation of a pointer, pawing at the floor and nodding his head between the man and the mutant.

FIX IT. FIX IT NOW. I DID A BAD.

The chimera didn't bother to look up, recognizing the Medic's voice and scent, instead concentrating on getting his legs under him so he could walk.
"Accident. Wing."
It was remarkable just how fragile the things were, the tiny thin bones easily twisted and sprained and broken... And, God, how it HURT! For such small thing, they sure had a lot of freaking nerve endings!

Wings? Oh, right. Jericho had those useless, fragile looking little wings. Why did he even have those? They were entirely superfluous. Glancing at the whining Grey, he followed the dog's gaze to the chimera, wincing when he saw the injured appendage. Oh, that looked painful. Sighing, he turned around and began to walk back towards the infirmary. He would worry about why the hell Henry's dog was here later.

Making sure the patchwork hybrid was walking alright, he led him through the double doors and inside. "Okay, up on the table," he said, washing his hands and grabbing a pair of gloves. "Let's take a look at you. You can get up there, right?" At least Jericho wasn't unconscious this time.

Grey had seen this before. People were injured constantly in the old lab, almost on a daily basis. he had gotten used to injury and screams almost as fast as he had gotten used to small explosions in that place. More often than not they occured simultaneously.

Medic-man. Hurt-man. Need the fix-it bag. NEED IT NOW.

Mind set on his path, he followed the pair into the infirmary and began snuffling around. It didn't take long before he found what he was looking for, and the medic would find his first-aid kit flopped nicely, if somehwat soggily, onto the table next to his buddy.

Jericho shuffled after the doctor, limping slightly as his shoulder muscles made the injured wing twitch. Once he realized the cause of the pain, he heaved himself upright to walk human-like, a hand on the wall to help him keep upright.
He clambered up onto the gurney as he was asked, curling up with his legs and arms tucked under him and his tail wrapped around his body so he became something of a patchworked loaf of hybrid.

Niklas was surprised to see Jericho walking upright, and even more surprised to see that the chimera was just as tall as he was. He was so used to looking down at the chimera on all fours. A curious development indeed. He tried not to stare though, simply turning around and letting his two companions follow him inside.

"Ok, I'm going to have to examine the area," he said once Jericho had sat himself down on the table. "That's probably going to hurt, so would you like me to give you some localized..." Thunk. "...anesthetic?" His sentence was interrupted by a rather eager Grey dropping a first aid kit down on the table. He stared at the dog in awed silence before speaking again, scratching him behind the ears. "That is both impressive and adorable, doggie."

Grey pushed the bag closer to the medic and rested his head on the table, staring at the pair and returning to the high-pitched whine of doom.

Fix it medic-man, FIX IT.

His tail began to thump slowly against the floor out of agitation, and shifted slowly until it was smacking poor Niklas in the back of the knee.

Jericho barely registered the dog's presence, curled up with his wing throbbing, but the near-familiar scent was calming enough that he didn't spook at the thump-thump-thump of that wagging tail. He looked up a bit, eyes focusing on the colored blur of the doctor as he voiced a soft whine.
He hated how fragile his wings were, how easy they were to injure and hurt...
If he didn't know the loss would be more painful than helpful, he would have asked the Medic to cut the useless limbs away.

"I'll take that as a 'yes,' then?" Niklas sighed, opening the medkit, giving the dog a sideways glance as the wagging tail hit the back of his legs. He rummaged around inside for some gauze and rubbing alcohol, before briefly walking over to the cabinets and searching for a syringe and some of the medicine he needed.

Setting his tools on the table next to Jericho (and away from the dog, whose tail was still hitting him), he poured some of the rubbing alcohol onto the gauze and swabbed an area next to the base of the hybrid's affected wing. "This is just some procaine, a local anesthetic," he said as he filled up the syringe. "It'll help numb the area while I take a look at it."

In all honesty, if he had the proper supplies for surgery, he would offer to amputate those little wings, as they seemed more trouble than they were worth (though he wasn't even sure if Jericho would be up for the idea). He was about to administer the injection when a particularly spirited thump from the Grey's tail against his leg made him loose his concentration. "Doggie, sit!" he said angrily.
