Tunes

Postby Connal Reid » Mon Aug 08, 2011 2:57 pm

Everyone likes music. So here's a place to share.

To put an interesting twist on things, have them be related in some way to Swamp Rat, whether to fit a particular character or the setting in general. Bonus points if it's from the time setting in question, although that's not required.

One little thing. If it's a pairing song, then let's at least have the two characters in question be interested in each other first, please. I won't name names, but I know a couple of you who tend to go a bit overboard on that already. Haha.

So I'll start us off with a little something that would easily fit Connal (and maybe, to a certain extent, Saoirse): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN6ocKCR ... &index=198

Show us what ya got!

Okay, I'm game. Let me give this a try. Just gotta warn you guys that I listen to random stuff and am rarely mainstream with my music.

As of right now for William Akhurst, RED's depressed yet ever smiling Veteran Sniper, I've got one song in mind.
ALBUM TITLE: The Revenge of Doctor Q
ARTIST: The Queenstons
SONG: Our Special Place
GENRE: Soft Electronic
REASON: Will's a good guy who's steady on his feet. Has a laid back attitude. The soft rock of this song mirrors that.
However the lyrics convey something deeper and more hollow in contrast with light tunage. That and the chorus kinda reminds me of the hidden dangers of the base.

But I gotta say, when I was writing for him in the Backup Generators Room and he got that creepy feeling near the end, I had this in mind:

ALBUM TITLE: Silent Hill Soundtrack
ARTIST: Various Artists
SONG: VARIOUS
GENRE: Soundtrack (Horror)

On a lighter note, Sykes Abernathy, BLU's Hardheaded Solly, always makes me laugh with the obvious choices in music he has.

ALBUM TITLE: Jump Up Calypso
ARTIST: Harry Belafonte
SONG: Jump In The Line
GENRE: Swing
REASON: No reason really. Other than being catchy and able to stick in your head, Sykes has this one on mind whenever he has nothing to do. Watch closely and you might see him sway in place. ;3

Well, I have to say, Yuri never really had much of a childhood, but what he does remember from his childhood, he loves. Growing up in solviet russia, he really had nothing better to do other than go to school, and watch tv over at his friend's house. The song his mother used to sing to him was about a cowboy returning slowly home to his wife in america, entitled "Я очень рад, ведь я, наконец, возвращаюсь домой", or "I am Glad I'm Finally Going Home". These lyrics, written in russian about america, were seen as anti solviet, so no version of the song was ever released on television for him to watch. But what he did see on his friend's television was a non lyrical version that had the same tune as the old lullaby.

I'm still trying to find a song for Dimitri, but so far I'm going towards either this or this, the former for its mood, the latter for the lyrics. But I really don't know.

A game I recently played is chock-full of creepy music that might fit the setting's mood to a certain extent.

.flow soundtrack --
Title Screen
Smile
School
Hospital
Hospital 2
Underwater Temple maze

And another song, but not from this game.

(I'll stop my spam for now. )

No specific song for any character, really, just have had this hanging out in my brain and bugging me for a good long while, so I figured I better share the earworm: http://youtu.be/9Z-NbQvhzKM
I really, really wish I knew French. :)

BTW, if anyone has any suggestions for songs for either Gerhard or Jericho, would be happy to hear them.

http://tugamaggie.tumblr.com/post/10763712713 sorry its not on youtube, but it fits considering how many monsters we have here.

Related because it's TF2 filk

Also, semi(?) spoiler alert; the song The End is more about a certain TF2 fanfic than just the characters themselves, so if you haven't read Respawn of the Dead, it might not make sense. And, if you are in the process of reading it, you don't want to listen to that one because then it will be massive spoilers for the very end of it.
For all that are interested in TF2, zombies, and really depressing stories, then

My apologies. If the link wasn't working properly, it was linking to a segment of the song, of which the lyrics were "all alone, all alone, all by myself."

"Although, dear doctor, I found something that was more your speed, hon hon hon hon hon."

Back on track, I would imagine this is something the Announcer would direct at the Swamp Rat Corps in general
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYFTbzREY7M

Good for nothin' bad in bed nobody likes you and you're better off dead goodbye
We've all come to say goodbye goodbye
Born defeated died in vain
Super destruction you were hooked on pain and tho' your music lingers on
All of us are glad you're gone
If I could live my life half as worthlessly as you
I'm convinced that I'd wind up burning too

Time to dance and have nightmares forever.

In other news I don't know why Voltaire just fits this place so fucking well, particularly this. We even had a loup-garou once :C. For those who have met him, you'll know who this one is for.

If SwampRat had to have a theme, I think it should be this, this.

And now for something completely different.

Very cute Jame...

Although, I do like that Two Steps From Hell Song.

Rufus's theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seVwETicKss Ironically, he also plays this on the piano if there's one in RED base. He hasn't played piano in years but hasn't lost the touch. One of the very few 'pleasures' he misses in life.

My turn again.

This one I think is good with the general atmosphere whenever there's a break from the usual creepiness of the place. Like, "Everything has gone to hell in a handbasket, but... But maybe, just maybe, we can still get through it..." Perhaps they're not entirely sure if they should believe things will get better or not, but there's still that feeling somewhere in the back of the mind.

Fuck yeah Okami That's a good choice. Makes me think of someone looking out wistfully over the swamp.

And now for something more crass.
