Lost and Found [INTRO_CLOSED]

Where everyone arrives. Arrival is not team-separate, and we trust you'll be able to figure out which you're on. We send supplies plus purchases every month, on the first. The original dock was destroyed, and the current one is still only half-finished, so you're dropped off a bit of a ways up the bank where its safer to land. Just don't get lost.
The team Warehouses also stand out near here, or at least used to. RED's is the only one still standing, while BLUs seems to have been burned to the ground. Or maybe exploded. Or both.

The Soldier's pointed ears flagged down, growling under his breath when the Snipe gave no warning that he'd be suddenly shouting just over his head. But he didn't threaten or argue as he looked to the mossy, battered walls of BLU base. A beautiful sight for sore eyes is what it was. He allowed himself to relax in just the slightest for being back on hollowed ground. "Thank God..." he exhales.

Muddied whiskers twitched when he heard steps in the distance that seemed to echo. Someone was coming. Raising his head, the fog seemed to clear as the man grew closer--A Medic. A little closer and the Soldier squints just a bit, slowly recognizing the face. He manages a lop-sided grin, tuft fur tugging in the action but it was another sight he was happy for. A familiar face.

"Doc..."

Enrico mentally breathed a sigh of relief at the fact it was the doctor who answered rather than, say, the Heavy or Engineer. Not that they wouldn't be helpful or anything, he just got along better with the doctor, and he really didn't feel like arguing with anybody right at the moment.
"Found 'im stumblin' around while I was out hunting. Had t'leave behind a fair kill t'get his furry arse up here, better appreciate it."
The Sniper grumbled a few more choice words under his breath, thankful that the Soldier was alright, but irritated that a good source of food for the team had been lost in the whole rescue thing. Really, first wild boar he'd seen in the whole bloody swamp-!

Furry...?
The word caused a momentary pause in Gerhard's medically focused train of thought, a brow quirking, but he didn't say anything, instead moving to get his butt in gear on making sure the obviously exhausted duo were alright. Only to have his thoughts freeze up in shock as his senses caught up with him, notifying him of the familiar scent and voice and-
He didn't even pause in his stride, first aid kit slipping from his fingers, and he vaguely heard the Sniper cry out in surprise as he tackled the Soldier out of the marksman's grasp, knocking all three of them to the ground.

While Enrico cursed and kicked himself free, Gerhard was rather busy giving his long lost friend the tightest full body hug a person could endure without breaking anything. It took him several moments to find his voice, and even when he did, it was soft, kept quiet so only the Soldier would hear.
"Allo, Herr Sykes."

'Ah, hello dirt and mossy ground. We meet again.'

Sykes grunts when he's suddenly tackled to his backside, his instincts to kick the person off taking a backseat when he knew who it was. Instead of throwing a fit, Sykes regains his breath and chuckles just the slightest, enough to rack his chest for the Medic to feel. He glances to the Sniper who seems to amble away, maybe even looking a bit surprised at the sudden attack. But honey-gold eyes soon trek back down to the see the dark hair of the Medic, pressed firmly against his chest. And it seemed to make laying on the ground quite okay.

"Hey... Doc," he responded softly, soon letting his head sit back with a dull thump. His arms lifeless but they strained to move, trying to at least drape against Gerhard's back in returned affection. "Good to see--That spirit of your's is still kicking. And... It's just good to see you again." He wanted out of the swamp terribly but being here now, he'd rather just see a familiar face that he enjoyed. Gerhard being one of the few men on his team that he could tolerate--and flat out smile to.

His arms seem to finally make the journey and flop over the Medic's back, dirtied claws scraping just so against the lab coat, possibly smearing dirt and grime against the white.

While Enrico grumbled and stalked off back into the forest in the hopes his kill hadn't been stolen, half wondering what the heck was going on but not really of the mind to stick around when there was something going on that he obviously had no part in, Gerhard continued to cling, uncaring of any mess that happened to get on his clean coat. He could just wash it again later...
"Ja... Gute to see you too, mein freund."
He swallowed when he realized his voice was wobbling, and forced himself to take a deep breath before he did something stupid like start to cry. It had been so long, weeks of worrying turned to months of tired resignation, knowing the furry Soldier, his first real friend on base, was lost to the swamp. Just like so many others...
"V-Vhere did you go?"

Such a simple question that Sykes couldn't even begin to fathom the answer to. He stared up at the dimly lit sky between the raking branches of hunched over trees.

"I... Guess I got lost. Feels like I've been walking for days. Must of be some trap configured out by the REDs," he finished off, blaming someone else rather than take the full responsibility of losing his way. It didn't make sense though. Scrambling to get back here, Sykes hadn't tried to think of how he seemed to vanish in the first place. But now that Gerhard asked... He was drawing a thick black blank. Like getting lost had just happened in the blink of an eye. "Doesn't matter. I'm back now. We can just go back to how things were weeks ago."

"Veeks...?"
Gerhard looked up, worry plain on his face as he caught the wolf's gaze.
"Sykes, you vere gone for monzhs."
Of course, the few who'd returned from the swamp had rarely lingered long enough to be asked anything or checked over, vanishing just as swiftly as they had returned. It could have been an effect of the swamp, losing track of time and space in the foreign environment...
But it still worried the doctor, worried him more than he cared to admit, even to himself.
Was there something else out in this godforsaken swamp...?

He feels a shift and Sykes looks up to see Gerhard move himself up enough to look down at him. If it hadn't been for the worried look etched in the Doctor's face, Sykes would have smiled. However, his brows furrowed at the statement.
"Months? Aaah... No. Heh, sorry Doc." Sykes tried to chuckle but could give a soft huff with a partial grin. "It's only been a few weeks. Three at the most. Had it been months, I'd have probably starved by now," he explains.

He had felt ragged to begin with. Worn down, dirty, starved, and dehydrated. He can only think that his harsh military training in his early years had saved his life to last this long. There was no way he could have survived out in the swamp for months. ...Sykes would have gone mad over such a long time.

Worry turned to a fearful kind of apprehension, and, though he didn't like to, the doctor sat up, pulling his friend up with him.
"Sykes, it's July. You vere gone for over zhree monzhs. I... I zhought you hadt died, or vere lost, like so many ozzers..."
To anyone watching, the blatant emotion on the Medic's face would likely come across somewhat unsettling, as the tentacled hybrid was not very well known for expressing himself in such a manner, more inclined to a neutral almost-frown. It just went to show how much Gerhard cared for the Soldier, unwilling to hide himself behind the usual facade of professionalism.

Unwinding his arms to hold his weight up when the Doc pulls him up with him, Sykes gives the man a hard look. Gerhard had no reason to lie to him. Being on the same team just solidified that fact. But the Soldier knew better-or at least, thought he knew better. Was it possible that he was gone for that long? Days in the swamp bled together, but it just seemed so unlikely. So many factors denied what the Medic was telling him. It couldn't have been months. But if it was really July.... Sykes closed his eyes, dark brows furrowing together as the thoughts swam in his head.

"I... Alright. Not gonna argue with you. You say it's been months, then alright. Hurts to think about it-I just don't see how it's possible."

But it didn't matter. Days, weeks, months; Sykes was back at BLU base and Gerhard was still here supporting the team. At least there was some comfort in his return. The Doctor was good at what he does and then some. Shaking his head to try and rid himself of the headache coming on, the hybrid moved to draw his legs back under him and out from under Gerhard. But he was far from leaving him to just sit there alone. Even tired and weak, Sykes pulled the Medic back up to his 'feet' to keep him close as he ambles to make his way inside. He'd deny anyone who asked but close physical contact with someone he trusted was something he desperately wanted after being alone for so long.

The Medic let himself be 'helped' up, making no comment in reply to the Soldier's acquiescence as they both started back towards base, the tentacled hybrid sticking close to provide support for his furry friend.
Gerhard knew very well that there were going to be questions, from both Sykes and himself, but at the moment, all that really mattered was that the Soldier was back. Perhaps not in the best of shape, now that he took the time to observe, but whole and healthy enough to move around on his own without any obvious limping or pain.
A stray tentacle picked up the dropped medical kit as they passed it by, passing it up to the doctor's free hand while the other was busy steadying the Soldier as they moved inside.
"Ve shouldt get you to zhe Infirmary. You can use zhe shower zhere to clean up, und I'll try to find some of your zhings."
