Territory (for Anu)

The swamp that is a fixture surrounding the battlefield. The swamp, like most, is quite full of trees, moss, and most notably leeches. There are some strange things that pop out of the waters; are you willing to brave into them?

Probably start to wind this down soon

While the tentaspy worked, the Crab had made himself cozy again in his scrap wood disaster of a hiding place. "You don't really talk much, do you?" the hybrid made a brilliant deduction, yawning. "At least you're quiet quiet."

The Crab drummed its claws on the wood floors, humming. "You don't need to do that, it doesn't come up here. Can't fit, is afraid of getting stuck."

Legit. There's no housewarming party.

It was not the only thing he was worried about. There were also People, creepy-crawlies, and Who Knows What Else that could crawl in at night. Anu felt it was strictly necessary, yes. Nice, firmly wedged net; and now, the clever bit. That took a bit of doing, but, eventually there was a jumble of tin cans hanging from above the inside of the door, all tethered to random parts of the net. It was already heavy enough that it would be difficult to move without them all going nuts, let along without noise at all.

Excellent.

After the back door was wedged shut, then he was satisfied. It was safe to bring in his collection. Small, living in a rusty bucket, but he brought it up from the bottom and into his (their, how odd) dwelling and began laying the contents out on his side of the building, where there was spaces in the uninsulated wall supports like tiny shelves.

Anu collected shiny things. Washers, a new-ish screwdriver with a nice handle, a length of untarnished chain, an old hinge he'd scrubbed with sand to shine again, lots of reflective junk.

How about a house warming gift?

Postby Tentacles » Mon Jul 16, 2012 12:05 pm

There came a sound from the Crab's side that surprisingly wasn't the sound of spitting or hissing. Sounded a bit like jingling.

Crabs wasn't the brightest bulb, but he figured if the tentaSpy didn't speak he ought to open up a new line of communication. Anu had a partner in junk collecting, though the disgusting little creature wasn't nearly as selective. He just happened to have something shiney.

He had hooked a key ring around his titanium tail and was jingling it to get Anu's attention. It appeared to be a very ancient assembly of skeleton keys, perhaps a remenant from the original base (and something the human members of Swamp Rat would have killed to get at).

Crabs spun the collection around a few more times as he approached the unmarked dividing line in the boat house, and then held the metal tail out straight, offering the keyring.

Oh boy!

That was... interesting. He wasn't sure what the Crab was up to, tried to mostly ignore him, really, but then it became clear this was a gift; a gesture.

Oh that was a nice thing. Keys, old keys, shapely keys. He liked that. Anu carefully approached, sending out a tentacle to snag the ring and bring it back to him. He turned the gift over in his hands, considering it. Then he looked at the Crab and nodded gratefully. Gift received with gratitude, and he'd find something suitable to give back... at some point. No rush on anything, he didn't think.

The keys went on a hook on the wall; certainly to be used in exploring later.

All he had to do was rig up a bed in the water and this couldn't be better, for living space.

Well. It could be better, but the Crab had just earned brownie points.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell you're welcome." the Crab trilled, scuttling back to his own side. He was quite pleased with himself; he had managed to get a reaction out of the tentaspy that wasn't abject disgust or disapproval. A win for the day.

He dug himself back into his splintery nest and hunkered down, only his tail sticking out from the mess. Yeah, this might not be so bad.
