Gone Fishing (OPEN, GET IN HERE)

The swamp that is a fixture surrounding the battlefield. The swamp, like most, is quite full of trees, moss, and most notably leeches. There are some strange things that pop out of the waters; are you willing to brave into them?

Gone Fishing (OPEN, GET IN HERE)

Madison's first week at Swamp Rat, with the exception of a killer bookcase, had been largely uneventful, even boring. She had only met one teammate, the rest seemingly having vanished into thin air. She had taken this small trip into the swamp partly as a means to get out, but also to explore the area, to see what could possibly be the cause of so many disappearances.

She had walked a ways away from the base, staying mostly on the firmer ground. She carried a beat up old fishing pole on one shoulder, a bucket in the other hand, and a loaf of bread under her arm. She didn't feel like digging for worms or minnows, and in her experience bread usually worked just fine.

Still, it had been years since she had last gone fishing, and she wasn't expecting to catch a whole lot. When she found a suitable spot, she left the drier ground and headed towards the water. She sat down on a fallen log, setting the bucket next to her, and baited the hook with some bread. She bent the pole back and then brought it forward, casting the line. Now all she had to do was wait.

It was a few days after an important conference at RED Team base, and Josif was feeling none the better. All that had happened so far was so very difficult to handle; his paycheck couldn't handle all that money, could it? He'd need to start saving up now...

No, no, Josif needed to focus, or rather, be distracted from all the hassle he was being put through. So he walked. Went for a solemn stroll through the desolate swamp. but with naught beyond the muddy earth, dark trees and the flowing river, nothing kept Josif company, listened to the Soldier's plight, comforted him when he needed it most now.

This wasn't working. Josif needed someone to talk to. Someone that wasn't the distraught, disheveled teammates he worked with. And then a sight across the river seized him. A Heavy Weapons Guy- no, Lady, technically- fishing absentmindedly on a fallen tree.

Worth a shot? At this point, anything was, for the battered infantryman that was Josif.

Madison swore angrily at the line in French when she realized she had lost the bait. Barely a few minutes in and she was already having trouble. She reeled in the line quickly and reached into the package of bread, sticking a fresh piece on the hook. Some bayou native she was, not even being able to fish properly.

It was only after she cast the newly baited line that she realized that she wasn't alone. A lone soldier was heading in her general direction. A RED soldier.

Nowthis was an interesting situation. She had never encountered a RED before, and wasn't entirely sure what to do. It was a ceasefire, and she wasn't armed. Then again, he didn't seem to be either. She wasn't particularly inclined to fight, but if she needed to she could likely take him in hand-to-hand combat. Though maybe she wasn't so good at fishing, she was good at beating the shit out of people with her bare hands. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, however. She decided to go the peaceful route and lifted her hand in greeting at his approach.

Josif returned the wave slowly and quickly rushed through a more shallow part of the river (at the cost of soaked boots). Perhaps Josif was crossing the border, but he wasn't planning on staying very long. Just long enough for a bit of small talk, then he'd hop right on across the river again and be done with it. Hopefully. A little bit of talk was better than nothing.

The infantryman strode towards the log, but kept a safe distance away, in case the Heavy was not as compliant as she seemed from the opposite bank. Josif then waved again, giving an innocent hello to the Heavy.

He was coming closer now, but had returned her greeting, even saying hello. Well, that suited her just fine. She glanced at her line once again. The bait was still there to her relief. She moved over a bit on the log so he had room to sit if he were so inclined.

She knew that him entering the water would likely scare away any fish, but she didn't mind too much. Instead, she watched him cross at a shallow part of the river. "Be careful," she warned, "De mud over dere is quite soft, and y' might get stuck."
